Care tips

To keep your Bella Midas extensions beautiful for a long time, the right care is essential. With the right routine, you can maintain the shine, strength and lifespan of your hair extensions.

Washing and cleansing

Washing your hair properly is a key part of a healthy care routine. Don't wash your hair too often - ideally two to three times a week at most - and refrain from washing it for the first 24 hours after insertion to avoid putting unnecessary strain on the bonds. Make sure to use a mild shampoo that gently cleanses without drying out the hair and massage it in evenly from roots to ends. Rinse thoroughly before applying a nourishing conditioner to keep your hair clean and smooth at the same time. After washing, dry gently with a towel - rubbing can damage the hair - and leave to dry completely before styling again.

Brushing and combing

Regular brushing and careful combing not only keep your hair tidy, but also healthy. Always start at the roots and work your way gently to the ends to loosen tangles and knots without pulling or tearing unnecessarily. Ideally, use a brush with soft bristles that glides gently through the hair and is gentle on the delicate bonds. This conditioning session removes loose hair, distributes the natural hair oils and gently stimulates the scalp - this strengthens the hair structure and provides extra shine. Regularity is the key here: daily, gentle brushing helps to prevent tangles and keep hair in top condition.

Styling and heat

Beautiful hairstyles start with gentle styling. Before you use heat tools such as a hairdryer, straightener or curling iron, your hair should be completely dry and ideally a heat protection spray should be applied. Heat can put a lot of stress on the hair, so it is important to choose a moderate temperature and avoid leaving it on individual sections for long periods. When blow-drying, start from the top down in gentle movements and work your way through strand by strand to achieve even drying. For curly or straight styles, apply a protective product beforehand to seal the hair surface and protect it from drying out - this will keep your look shiny, smooth and healthy for longer.

Night care

Before sleeping: Braid your hair loosely or tie it into a high, soft bun. Sleep on a silk or satin cover to reduce friction. For clip-ins: remove and store in a dry place if not used for longer periods.

Summer and swimming

We recommend avoiding swimming with extensions as much as possible, as chlorine, salt water and heat weaken the hair structure and can lead to dullness or color changes. If the hair does get wet, it should be rinsed thoroughly immediately.

Storage and safekeeping

Store extensions completely dry. Ideal: Satin bag or special hanger; protected from light and kink-free. Store clip-ins clean and individually in the color ring or case.

New hair color and texture

We advise against coloring, tinting or perming the extensions, as this weakens the hair and shortens the wearing time. It is therefore best to choose the desired color directly from our range. Dyeing your own hair is always easier and gentler than tinting extensions afterwards.

Humidity and temperature

The clip-ins are currently available in two different lengths.

All about pregnancy

Extensions can generally be worn during pregnancy. However, they should be removed in the event of hormone-induced hair loss during pregnancy or breastfeeding, as your own hair may not be able to support the additional weight during this phase.

Do

To loosen any knots, work slowly from the bottom up.

With good care, Bella Midas clip-ins can be worn for several months, if not years.

Always tie the hair into a plait overnight to avoid unnecessary friction with the hair.

Pat the hair dry with a towel, please do not rub.

First dry the joints on the lowest hairdryer setting.

Please visit a Bella Midas partner salon regularly to have your hair extensions checked.

Do not

Use brushes with narrow bristles. They get stuck at the joints.

Brush your hair less than twice a day.

Wash, brush or blow-dry the hair above your head. There is a risk that the strands can become knotted.

Keep the straightening iron at the ends of your extensions. The straightener will dry out the ends in the long term.

Blow-drying the connection points too long and too hot.

FAQ

  • How often should I wash my hair extensions?

We recommend washing extensions no more than two to three times a week. Washing them too often can unnecessarily dry out the real hair and shorten the lifespan of the extensions. Always use care products designed specifically for extensions.

  • Can I use conditioner, hair masks, and hair oil?

Yes. You can use conditioner, hair masks, and hair oil on the lengths and ends of your hair. However, avoid applying oil-based or very rich products directly to the attachment points, as these can compromise their hold.

  • Can I go to sleep with wet hair extensions?

No. Never go to sleep with wet or damp hair extensions. Be sure to dry the roots and attachment points completely, and it’s best to wear your hair in a loose ponytail or braided style at night.

  • How do I brush my hair extensions properly?

Brush your hair extensions at least once in the morning and once in the evening. Always start at the ends and work your way up gently. Hold the hair lightly as you brush, and use a brush designed for hair extensions. You should also gently separate the individual connection points with your fingers on a regular basis.

  • Can I swim and go out in the sun with hair extensions?

Generally speaking, yes. However, chlorine, saltwater, and intense UV radiation can dry out extensions and cause color changes. Braid your hair before swimming, rinse it thoroughly with clean water afterward, and avoid direct contact with sunscreen—especially if you have light-colored or blonde extensions.
