EXTENSIONS CARE TIPS

Before and during the hair extension...

The key to beautiful looking extensions, is proper care. Since extensions are essentially made of "non-living" hair, they cannot receive nutrients from the human body. Therefore, even excellent quality hair extensions require special care and additional support. BELLA MIDAS care products are specially designed to keep extensions shiny, vibrant and healthy for a long time.

Hair washing:

Refrain from washing your hair within the first 24 hours after inserting the extensions. Hair should not be washed more than three times a week and never upside down. Please do not use any oil-based products on the extension joints. We recommend caring for the extensions exclusively with our BELLA MIDAS aftercare products (many reputable brands contain high amounts of sodium chloride, which can dry out your hair, as well as silicone and oil ingredients, which can weaken the extensions and connection points). Unfortunately, when using third-party care lines, we cannot guarantee that our products will maintain their quality. Remember to comb the extensions with a brush before washing. Make sure there are no knots in the hair. Gently wash the extensions in lukewarm water. Apply our BELLA MIDAS Hair Extensions Shampoo starting from the hairline towards the ends and wash it out thoroughly. Afterwards, we recommend that you apply our conditioner, leave it on for two minutes and then rinse thoroughly. Never use the conditioner on the connection points. In addition, you should use our booster once a week to maintain the naturalness of the extensions. The application time of the booster is 10 minutes. The booster should be applied after the conditioner wash and then rinsed again with lukewarm water. After washing, carefully sort through the joints with your fingers in one motion from top to bottom. Subsequently, you should apply our Argan Oil especially on the tips of the hair.

Drying / Styling:

After shampooing, the extensions should be carefully dried and styled. The hair is weakest when wet, so please be sure to handle gently and carefully. Gently squeeze the hair with a towel when wet (do not rub!). Then arrange the strands and blow-dry from top to bottom (from the roots to the joints to the tips) (on the lowest blow-dry setting). Never dry hair upside down. Even when air-drying, briefly blow-dry the junctions. Never brush the hair when it is wet. Before any styling, make sure that the hair is completely dry. Afterwards, we recommend applying "Shake & Protect" to the hair, leave on for a short time (do not rinse) and then start styling. When using heat tools such as straightening irons or curling irons, be sure to apply "Shake & Protect" beforehand. Please avoid too high heat and persisting at the ends of the hair, otherwise the ends dry out too much and threaten to break off.

Hair brushing:

Hair should be brushed gently and thoroughly 2 times a day. Please arrange the hair beforehand by going between the connection points and the scalp with your fingers and going through the hair to the tips. This will also prevent the extensions from tangling. Use soft brush bristles to protect the hair and connection points.

Vacation / Swimming:

We recommend avoiding swimming with extensions if possible. Extensions can be weakened by prolonged contact with water chemicals. Chlorinated water in swimming pools or sea salt, in combination with heat, can cause hair extensions to discolor, the condition of the hair to deteriorate and the extensions to become dull. Provided that the hair still gets wet, be sure to rinse the hair thoroughly with our shampoo and conditioner after bathing.

For bedtime:

Please gather your hair into a loose ponytail or braid with a soft hair tie. This will prevent tangles.

Neue Haarfarbe/ Struktur:

Hobbies:

Sauna and solarium visits are basically possible, but you should always wrap a towel around your hair. This will ensure that the connection points do not soften and the extensions fall out. In addition, you should care for your hair thoroughly afterwards with our aftercare products. There are no limits when it comes to sports, as long as you tie the hair carefully.

Pregnancy:

In principle, it is possible to wear extensions during pregnancy. However, if you experience increased hair loss during pregnancy or breastfeeding due to hormonal fluctuations, you should have the extensions removed. In this case, the natural hair no longer seems to be able to bear the weight of the extensions.

We recommend scheduling a follow-up appointment with your extension specialist one month after the extensions have been placed to check the hair extensions or to book an appointment for adjustment or removal. Generally, you should schedule a refresher visit with your hair stylist every three months. The hair grows about three centimeters during this time. This creates the risk that your own hair will become knotted with the junctions. In addition, a regular cut at the hairdresser's ensures that the hair looks well-groomed and natural for a long time.

Here is an overview of what you should absolutely do and what you must avoid:

DO:

  • To loosen any knots, work slowly from the bottom up.
  • Be sure to use a hairbrush with soft bristles. This will protect the extensions and the connection points.
  • Always tie the hair into a braid overnight to avoid unnecessary friction on the hair.
  • Pat the hair dry with a towel, please do not rub.
  • First dry the connection points on the lowest hairdryer setting.
  • Please visit a BELLA MIDAS partner salon regularly to have the hair extension checked.

DO NOT DO:

  • Use brushes with narrow bristles. They get caught on the joints.
  • Brush your hair less than twice a day.
  • Wash, brush or blow dry the hair above your head. There is a risk that the strands can get knotted.
  • Graft straightening irons to the ends of your extensions. The straightening iron will dry out the tips in the long run.
  • Blow-drying the connection points too long and too hot.
  • Use products containing alcohol.
